FY2026 mill rates overview

Fiscal year 2026 municipal mill rates are levied against the October 1, 2024 grand list. This site uses the Connecticut Office of Policy and Management publication for primary municipalities — not invented history and not fire-district composites.

What “FY2026” means here

Connecticut municipal fiscal years commonly run July 1–June 30. The mill rates labeled FY2026 apply to taxes based on the October 1, 2024 assessment date (grand list 2024). The calculator, every town page, and every compare page on this site read from the same FY2026 municipal dataset.

Source

Official tables: CT OPM mill rates. This project keeps the 169 primary municipality rows (names without fire-district suffixes), including real-property and motor-vehicle mill rates. Motor-vehicle rates are capped at 32.46 mills when the published MV rate would otherwise exceed the cap.

Spread across the state (municipal only)

Among the 169 primary municipalities in this dataset, the lowest FY2026 municipal mill rate is Washington at 10.85. The highest is Hartford at 68.95. Near the middle of the ranked list sits Fairfield at 28.39. Rankings on town pages use this same low-to-high ordering (rank 1 = lowest mill rate).

How to verify a rate

  1. Check the town on this site’s directory.
  2. Compare to the current OPM mill-rate publication.
  3. Ask the town assessor or tax collector whether fire or special district mills apply to the parcel.
  4. Read the property record card for assessed value — do not assume it equals 70% of your offer price.
